Overview
Registered in 1988 by W. Zumbar, this small hosta is a sport of *Hosta* 'Little Aurora'. It is visually distinctive for its green leaves with white margins, a compact mound reaching only 6 inches (15.2 cm) in height and 10 inches (25.4 cm) in diameter, with leaves measuring 3.5 inches (8.9 cm) long and 2 inches (5.1 cm) wide, bearing six pairs of veins.
In the Garden
'Hosta' 'Enchantress' is best suited to partial to full shade, where its small size makes it an excellent choice for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of a shaded border. Mature plants form a dense, mounding clump roughly 10 inches across, and the white-margined leaves provide subtle contrast when paired with fine-textured ferns or small woodland perennials. Its compact habit also makes it suitable for container cultivation.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even moisture, particularly during dry spells. Fertilize in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
