Overview
Registered in 1988 by BHHS, 'Elizabeth Campbell' is a large hosta derived from a select form of *Hosta* 'Fortunei Albopicta'. It is visually distinguished by its green leaves with gold margins, a color pattern inherited from its parent.
In the Garden
This large hosta reaches a mature size of about 24 inches (61 cm) in height and 48 inches (122 cm) in spread, making it suitable for mid-border or specimen planting. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the gold margins remain most vivid, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its substantial size makes it less suited for containers unless using a very large pot.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods, especially in the first growing season, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage the foliage, so monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
