Overview

Registered in 1987 by P. Ruh, this small-sized sport of *Hosta* 'Pixie Power' is distinguished by its narrow, lance-shaped leaves with medium green centers and pure white margins measuring 0.12 inches (0.3 cm) wide. The foliage reaches 9 inches (22.9 cm) in length and 1.25 inches (3.2 cm) in width, with three vein pairs and glossy undersides, forming a compact mound 10 inches (25.4 cm) tall and 18 inches (45.7 cm) in diameter.

In the Garden

*Hosta* 'Elfin Power' is suitable for partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and its small stature makes it an excellent choice for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of a shaded border. At maturity, the plant forms a dense, low clump that pairs well with other small perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella*, and it performs well in containers due to its compact size. The scape, which can reach up to 27 inches (68.6 cm) in height, bears lavender flowers in midsummer.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. While slugs and deer may occasionally feed on the foliage, the narrow leaves and glossy texture offer some resistance compared to larger-leaved cultivars.
