Overview
Registered in 1986 by H. Weissenberger, this small hosta derives from a hybrid of *Hosta* 'Hadspen Blue'. Its most distinctive feature is the blue-green leaf color, which is uniform across the blade margins and center, with a rounded cordate leaf base and seven pairs of veins.
In the Garden
With a mature diameter of 26 inches (66.0 cm) and height of 10 inches (25.4 cm), 'Edward Wargo' is classified as a small hosta suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container cultivation. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of blue-leaved hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other small woodland perennials. Its compact size makes it an excellent choice for troughs or small pots on shaded patios.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
