Overview

Registered in 2012 from unknown parentage, 'Drill Baby Drill' is a small hosta distinguished by its green leaves with gold margins and yellow-green streaking. The lance-shaped leaves, measuring 7 inches (17.8 cm) long and 3 inches (7.6 cm) wide, feature slightly rippled margins and a moderately wavy texture, with a slightly shiny surface on both sides.

In the Garden

This compact cultivar forms a mound 10 inches (25.4 cm) in diameter and 8 inches (20.3 cm) high, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and is well-suited for rock gardens, small borders, or container plantings due to its small size. Companion plants include ferns, heucheras, or small groundcovers that appreciate similar shade conditions.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and manage as needed.
