Overview
Registered in 2011, *Hosta* 'Dreamboat Annie' is a large, mound-forming cultivar of uncertain parentage, with *Hosta* 'Uncle Albert' as the pod parent. This hosta is visually distinctive for its very shiny, medium green leaves with lighter margins, combined with a pronounced downward cupping (convex shape) that gives the foliage a glossy, boat-like appearance.
In the Garden
'Dreamboat Annie' reaches a mature diameter of 45 inches (114.3 cm) and a height of 12 inches (30.5 cm), with a moderate growth rate. It is best suited to partial to full shade, as typical for hostas, and performs well in woodland gardens, shaded borders, or as a specimen plant. Its large, glossy leaves provide strong textural contrast when paired with finer-textured shade perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most large-leaved hostas, monitor for slug and deer damage, particularly in moist, shaded conditions.
