Hosta ‘Double Eagle’ is a registered cultivar () .

Year registered2000
Section classI-3

Overview

A giant hosta registered in 2000, 'Double Eagle' arose as a hybrid of *Hosta* 'Sagae'. It is visually distinctive for its large, blue-green leaves with heavy, greenish-yellow, rippled margins and a glaucous bloom on the undersides.

In the Garden

'Double Eagle' forms an upright mound reaching 30 inches (76.2 cm) in height and 59 inches (149.9 cm) in diameter, with leaves 15 inches (38.1 cm) long and 11 inches (27.9 cm) wide. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for hostas, and its substantial size makes it suitable as a specimen or background plant in shaded borders. Its slow growth rate and large dimensions limit its use in containers.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many large-leaved hostas, 'Double Eagle' is susceptible to slug and deer damage.
