Overview
Registered in 2005, 'Dorset Glenn' is a small hosta cultivar derived from a selfed seedling of *Hosta* 'Dorset Clown'. Its most distinctive feature is the green leaf blade with greenish-yellow streaking that extends into creamy white, slightly rippled margins, a pattern that is reliably passed to its seedlings.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 6 inches (15.2 cm) in height and 12 inches (30.5 cm) in diameter, with a slow growth rate. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, typical for small hostas, and is well suited to rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. Its small stature makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation. Companion plants should be similarly scaled, such as small ferns or woodland perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in dry spells. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed as needed.
