Overview
Registered in 2004, *Hosta* 'Don Stevens' is a medium-sized cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinguished by its broadly ovate, dark green leaves with creamy white, slightly rippled margins that range from 0.5 to 1 inch (1.3 to 2.5 cm) in width.
In the Garden
'Don Stevens' forms a mound-like clump reaching 24 inches (61.0 cm) in height and 40 inches (101.6 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and is suitable for borders, woodland gardens, or as a specimen plant. Its medium size allows pairing with ferns, astilbes, or smaller shade perennials; it is not recommended for containers due to its spread.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
