Overview

Registered in 2011, 'Dinner Mint' is a small sport of *Hosta* 'Lemontini' distinguished by its reversal of the typical hosta color pattern: golden yellow leaves are edged with a narrow, dark green margin. This compact, mound-forming cultivar reaches 7 inches (17.8 cm) in height and 15 inches (38.1 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate.

In the Garden

'Dinner Mint' is suited to partial to full shade, where its bright yellow leaf centers contrast effectively with the dark green margins. Its small size makes it appropriate for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. Companion plants with complementary foliage colors, such as dark-leaved heucheras or fine-textured ferns, provide visual contrast without competing for space.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Dinner Mint' is susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
