Overview
Registered in 2010 by P. & J. Ruh, 'Devon Hills' is a large, upright hosta derived from *Hosta fluctuans* as the pod parent. Its most distinctive features are dark green, slightly rippled leaf margins combined with a variegated blade, and a heavily corrugated, folded, and wavy leaf surface.
In the Garden
'Devon Hills' reaches a mature size of 36 inches (91.4 cm) in diameter and 23 inches (58.4 cm) in height, with an upright growth habit and moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its large, textured leaves make it a strong specimen plant for woodland gardens or shaded borders. The robust size pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are recommended, as the large, corrugated leaves may be attractive to both pests.
