Overview
Registered in 1988 by A. & R. Bowden, 'Devon Blue' is a small-sized hosta derived from the *H.* Tardiana Group. Its distinctive blue-green leaves, which form a compact mound, are the cultivar's primary ornamental feature.
In the Garden
'Devon Blue' reaches a mature diameter of approximately 40 inches (101.6 cm) and a height of 20 inches (50.8 cm), making it suitable for the front of borders or as an edging plant. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its small size also makes it appropriate for container cultivation.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
