Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'Abiqua Recluse' registered in 2004, 'Destiny' is a large cultivar distinguished by its medium green, moderately corrugated leaves with flat, yellow margins approximately 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide. The broadly ovate leaves, each with 18 vein pairs, measure 12.5 inches (31.8 cm) long and 8 inches (20.3 cm) wide, with a cordate base and slightly shiny upper surface.

In the Garden

'Destiny' forms a mound-like clump reaching 18 inches (45.7 cm) in height and 30 inches (76.2 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its substantial foliage provides textural contrast alongside ferns, heucheras, and smaller hostas. The plant's large size makes it suitable as a specimen or in mixed shade borders, though it is not recommended for containers due to its dimensions.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as both pests may damage the foliage.
