Overview
Registered in 2012 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Vivacious', 'Delicious' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with wide, creamy white margins and red petioles that become visible due to the plant's semi-upright growth habit. The ovate leaves measure 7.5 inches (19.1 cm) long by 5 inches (12.7 cm) wide, with 7 to 8 vein pairs, a dull upper surface, and a glaucous bloom underneath; leaf margins are flat, 0.25 inches (0.6 cm) wide, and creamy white, while the blade is moderately wavy and lightly corrugated.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a mound 38 inches (96.5 cm) in diameter and 16 inches (40.6 cm) tall, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the blue-green leaf color and white margins remain most stable; in too much sun, the margins may scorch. The red petioles provide subtle contrast at the base, making it suitable for the middle of a shaded border or as a specimen among ferns, heucheras, or other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so monitor regularly and protect if necessary.
