Year registered1995
Section classIV-6a

Overview

Registered in 1995 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Golden Prayers', 'Delia' is a small, slow-growing cultivar distinguished by its reversed coloration: a light yellow leaf center framed by medium green margins. The leaves are dull on both surfaces, with rounded bases and eight pairs of veins, creating a muted, refined appearance.

In the Garden

'Delia' forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 6 inches (15.2 cm) in height and 18 inches (45.7 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, as excessive sun may scorch the light leaf centers. Companion plants with contrasting foliage, such as ferns or small-leaved heucheras, complement its restrained habit.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Delia' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor regularly and use barriers or repellents where these pests are prevalent.
