Overview
Registered in 2000 by breeder Mary DaPra, this miniature hosta is distinguished by its diminutive variegated leaves with medium green margins. The parentage is unknown. 'DaPra's Delight' produces leaves measuring 0.75 inches (1.9 cm) in length and 0.63 inches (1.6 cm) in width, making it one of the smallest variegated hosta cultivars.
In the Garden
'DaPra's Delight' is best suited for shaded or partially shaded locations, as is typical for most hostas. At maturity, the plant forms a compact clump of very small leaves, reaching a height of approximately 2–3 inches and a spread of 4–6 inches. This miniature size makes it an excellent choice for trough gardens, fairy gardens, or rock garden pockets. It pairs well with other small shade perennials such as miniature ferns, creeping Jenny, or small sedges.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slugs and deer may cause damage; monitor regularly and apply controls as needed. This cultivar is hardy in typical hosta-growing zones.
