Overview
Registered in 2012 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Invincible', 'Dan Patch' is a medium-sized hosta distinguished by its very shiny, medium green leaves with greenish yellow to creamy white margins. Under certain light conditions, cream white splashing may appear between the margin and the leaf center, adding further visual interest.
In the Garden
'Dan Patch' forms a mound-like clump reaching 17 inches (43.2 cm) in height and 30 inches (76.2 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its glossy foliage provides textural contrast when paired with finer-leaved perennials such as ferns or heucheras. The moderate size makes it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in shaded beds.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. While 'Dan Patch' shows typical hosta resistance to deer, slug damage may occur on the broad leaves if conditions are moist.
