Overview

Registered in 2005, 'Dalton's Pick' is a medium-sized hosta of unknown parentage distinguished by bright green leaves with vivid golden-yellow margins. The foliage exhibits even corrugation and holds its yellow margin color throughout the growing season when grown in sufficient sunlight.

In the Garden

'Dalton's Pick' performs well in sunnier locations than typical hostas, maintaining its bright yellow margins without fading when given adequate light. Mature plants reach medium size, with individual leaves measuring 9 inches (22.9 cm) long and 6 inches (15.2 cm) wide. The gold-margined foliage provides strong contrast when paired with blue-leaved hostas or fine-textured shade perennials such as ferns.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in sunnier exposures. Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Dalton's Pick' may be browsed by deer and is susceptible to slug damage in damp conditions.
