Overview

Registered in 2005 as a sport of an unidentified parent, *Hosta* 'Daddy Boomer' is a large, fast-growing cultivar distinguished by its broad, blue-green leaves with wide, heavily rippled yellow margins. The foliage exhibits a glaucous bloom on the underside, moderate corrugation, and heavy substance, contributing to a substantial mound-like habit.

In the Garden

'Daddy Boomer' forms a dense, spreading clump reaching approximately 33 inches (84 cm) in height and 63 inches (160 cm) in diameter, making it suitable as a specimen or groundcover in partial to full shade. Its large, textured leaves pair well with ferns, astilbes, or other shade-tolerant perennials that contrast in form or color. The plant's fast growth rate and substantial size render it less suited for container cultivation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during establishment and throughout the growing season, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many large-leaved hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
