Overview
Registered in 2002 as a sport of an unnamed parent, *Hosta* 'Cyclone' is a small-sized cultivar distinguished by its intensely twisted, deeply folded leaves. The broadly ovate, 5-inch (12.7 cm) leaves feature creamy white centers with dark green, heavily rippled margins, a slightly shiny surface on both sides, and a lightly corrugated texture.
In the Garden
Reaching 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height and 18 inches (45.7 cm) in diameter with a moderate growth rate, 'Cyclone' is suitable for the front of shaded borders, rock gardens, or container culture. Its upright habit and small stature make it an effective edging plant or accent among other small hostas, ferns, or woodland perennials in partial to full shade.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Cyclone' may be susceptible to slug damage, particularly on its textured foliage, and deer browsing in areas where these animals are present.
