Overview
Registered in 2002 from an open-pollinated cross with *Hosta* 'Sea Prize' as the pod parent, 'Cyberstar' is a large cultivar distinguished by its dark green leaves with unstable, variable streaks of light green, greenish yellow, yellow, and creamy white in the margins. The broadly ovate, deeply corrugated leaves are held horizontally and exhibit a slightly rippled, lightly wavy margin with a slightly shiny surface on both sides.
In the Garden
'Cyberstar' reaches a mature diameter of 41 inches (104.1 cm) and a height of 29 inches (73.7 cm), with an upright, moderate growth habit. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its large size and substantial leaf substance make it suitable as a specimen or in mass plantings, though its upright form also works in mixed borders.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Cyberstar' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
