Overview

Registered in 2009, *Hosta* 'Curve Ball' is a medium-sized cultivar of unknown parentage (pollen parent) derived from *H. 'Tokudama Flavocircinalis'*. It is visually distinctive for its deeply corrugated, broadly ovate leaves with a cordate base, which are green with bright golden yellow margins and slightly rippled edges; the leaf surface is dull on both sides.

In the Garden

'Curve Ball' forms a dense, mound-like clump reaching approximately 19 inches (48.3 cm) in height and 38 inches (96.5 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It is suitable for partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones, where its heavy-textured foliage provides contrast against finer-leaved perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*. The near-white flowers appear on scapes up to 24 inches (61.0 cm) tall, adding late-season interest.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. The thick, corrugated leaves offer some resistance to slugs, but standard slug control measures are recommended in damp conditions; deer may browse the foliage.
