Overview

Registered in 1991 by W. & E. Lachman, 'Curly' is a small hosta cultivar distinguished by its heavily undulated leaf margins and bicolored foliage. The leaves are green with white margins, measuring 4.75 inches (12.1 cm) long and 1.75 inches (4.4 cm) wide, with 8 to 10 vein pairs and pronounced wavy edges.

In the Garden

Reaching a mature size of 16 inches (40.6 cm) in diameter and 5 inches (12.7 cm) in height, 'Curly' is suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. It performs best in partial to full shade and pairs well with other small hostas, ferns, or woodland perennials such as *Heuchera* and *Tiarella*. Its compact habit makes it an excellent choice for trough gardens or small shaded areas.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Curly' is susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones; monitor accordingly.
