Overview

Registered in 1997, 'Cupid's Dart' is a small hosta sport distinguished by its narrow, pure white leaf margins against medium green centers. The leaves are dull on the upper surface and slightly shiny beneath, with flat margins measuring 0.19 inches (0.5 cm) wide.

In the Garden

This compact cultivar forms a low, mounding clump reaching 10 inches (25.4 cm) in height and 18 inches (45.7 cm) in diameter, with scapes rising 8 to 12 inches (20.3 to 30.5 cm). It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for variegated hostas, and is well-suited for small spaces, rock gardens, or the front of borders. Its small size makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many hostas, 'Cupid's Dart' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
