Year registered2009
Section classIV-2

Overview

Registered in 2009, 'Cupatini' is a small hosta resulting from a cross between a golden yellow sport of *H.* 'Blue Dimples' (pod parent) and *H.* 'Shining Tot' (pollen parent). This cultivar is visually distinguished by its compact, mound-like habit of deeply cupped, broadly ovate leaves with a medium blue-green color, glaucous bloom on both surfaces, and moderately corrugated texture.

In the Garden

'Cupatini' is suitable for partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and reaches a mature size of 11 inches (27.9 cm) in height and 16 inches (40.6 cm) in diameter with a moderate growth rate. Its small stature and dense, cupped foliage make it an effective choice for the front of shaded borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. Companion plants could include small ferns, *Heuchera* cultivars, or other miniature hostas that complement its blue-green tones.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor foliage regularly and take protective measures if needed.
