Overview

Registered in 2009, *Hosta* 'Cup of Grace' is a medium-sized variegated cultivar derived from *H.* 'Halcyon' as pod parent and *H.* 'Breeder's Choice' open pollinated as pollen parent. Its most distinctive features are deeply cupped, corrugated leaves with dark green flat margins and very shiny surfaces on both sides, combined with pure white scapes bearing sterile flowers.

In the Garden

'Cup of Grace' forms an upright clump reaching 21 inches (53.3 cm) in height and 36 inches (91.4 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, where its shiny, deeply cupped leaves point skyward. The sterile white flowers, held on 28 to 30 inch (71.1 to 76.2 cm) scapes just above the foliage, provide late-season interest without self-seeding.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in warmer climates, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through appropriate barriers or deterrents.
