Overview
Registered in 2003, *Hosta* 'Crossroads Whirlpool' is a medium-sized cultivar of unknown pollen parentage, with *H.* 'William Lachman' as the pod parent. It is visually distinctive for its nearly round, blue-green leaves marked with white, flat margins and a subtle streaking pattern, combined with a glaucous bloom on both leaf surfaces.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a slow-growing, mound-like clump reaching approximately 21 inches (53.3 cm) in diameter and 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height. It is suited to partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and performs best in well-drained, organically rich soil. The medium size and good substance make it appropriate for border fronts, woodland gardens, or shaded rockeries; it is not typically recommended for container cultivation due to its moderate spread.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may cause damage; monitor and manage as needed in the garden.
