Overview

Registered in 2003, 'Crossroads Rowdy' is a medium-sized hosta cultivar of unknown parentage, distinguished by its broad, flat leaves of blue-green with wide, creamy white, slightly rippled margins. The leaf surface is dull on top with a glaucous bloom beneath, and the margin transitions subtly into the center coloration.

In the Garden

'Crossroads Rowdy' forms a moderate-growing, mound-like clump reaching 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for variegated hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its medium size makes it suitable for border fronts or as a specimen in shaded beds.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
