Overview
Registered in 2003, 'Crossroads Oscar' is a small hosta cultivar of unknown parentage, distinguished by its nearly round, moderately corrugated leaves of medium green with creamy white, flat margins. The leaf margins measure 0.4 to 0.5 inches (1.0–1.3 cm) wide, and the foliage is noted for its very heavy substance for a plant of this size.
In the Garden
'Crossroads Oscar' forms a compact, slow-growing mound reaching 7 inches (17.8 cm) in height and 10 inches (25.4 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or trough plantings. It performs best in partial to full shade, as typical for hostas, and pairs well with other small perennials such as heucheras or ferns. Its diminutive size also makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. While the heavy leaf substance offers some resistance, monitor for slug and deer damage in garden settings.
