Overview
Registered in 2014 by K. Schwarz, this large hosta originated as a sport of *Hosta* 'Wet Crocodile'. It is visually distinctive for its heavily corrugated, deeply cupped, nearly round leaves of dark green with cream margins ranging from 0.3 to 2.5 cm wide, combined with a very shiny upper surface.
In the Garden
'Hosta 'Crocodile Queen' forms an upright clump reaching approximately 48 cm in height and 51 cm in diameter, with a fast growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for hostas, and its bold, textured foliage provides strong contrast when paired with finer-leaved perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*. Its large size makes it suitable for mid-border or as a specimen in shaded beds.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. While hostas are generally susceptible to slugs and deer, the deeply corrugated leaves of this cultivar may offer some resistance to slug damage.
