Overview
Registered in 1990 by M. Soules, this giant blue-green hosta was produced from a cross between *H. sieboldiana* and *H.* 'Tokudama'. Its most distinctive feature is the exceptionally large, heavily textured leaves with blue-green margins and prominent veining, forming a substantial mound.
In the Garden
With a mature spread of 69 inches (175.3 cm) and height of 23 inches (58.4 cm), 'Crinoline Petticoats' requires ample space and performs best in partial to full shade. Its substantial size makes it suitable as a specimen plant or as a backdrop in shaded borders, where it pairs well with ferns and other shade-tolerant perennials. The scape reaches up to 25 inches (63.5 cm) in height.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most large-leaved hostas, it is susceptible to slug damage and deer browsing.
