Overview
Registered in 1975 by E. Minks, this medium-sized hosta resulted from a cross between *Hosta* 'August Moon' (pod parent) and *Hosta* 'Ruffles' (pollen parent). The cultivar is distinguished by its green leaves with pale green chartreuse margins, a combination that creates a muted gold border against a darker green center.
In the Garden
Mature plants reach approximately 20 inches (50.8 cm) in height and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter, making this a medium-sized clump suitable for mid-border positions. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. The leaf dimensions—8 inches (20.3 cm) long by 6 inches (15.2 cm) wide—provide substantial texture, while the 8 to 9 vein pairs contribute to a slightly puckered appearance.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
