Overview
Registered in 2007 as a selfed seedling of *Hosta* 'Sea Blue Leather', 'Creek' is a giant cultivar distinguished by its intensely blue-green, heavily glaucous foliage and substantial leaf substance. The nearly round, cordate-based leaves measure 13 inches (33.0 cm) long by 10 inches (25.4 cm) wide, with 14 to 16 vein pairs and flat, lightly corrugated surfaces.
In the Garden
'Creek' forms a slow-growing, mound-like clump reaching 42 inches (106.7 cm) in diameter and 14 inches (35.6 cm) in height, making it suitable as a specimen or accent in shaded borders. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its blue-green color is most pronounced, and pairs well with ferns, *Heuchera*, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its substantial leaves and compact height also suit it for large containers.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. While the heavy substance provides some resistance, monitor for slugs and deer in typical hosta-growing zones.
