Overview
Registered in 2007, *Hosta* 'Cree' is a large, fast-growing hybrid of *H. montana* 'Aureomarginata' and *H.* 'Sea Drift'. It is visually distinctive for its broadly ovate, blue-green leaves with heavily rippled, medium green margins, an intensely wavy leaf edge, and a glaucous bloom on the lower surface.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a dense, mound-like clump reaching 36 inches (91.4 cm) in height and 54 inches (137.2 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and its substantial size makes it suitable as a specimen or in the middle to back of a border. The heavily textured, wavy foliage pairs well with ferns, astilbes, or other shade perennials that contrast in leaf form.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as the broad, lush leaves are attractive to both pests.
