Overview

Registered in 1982 by P. Aden, *Hosta* 'Counter Point' is a medium-sized sport of *Hosta* 'Francee' distinguished by its blue-green leaves with chartreuse-streaked white margins. The leaf blade, averaging 8 inches (20.3 cm) long and 4 inches (10.2 cm) wide, displays six pairs of veins and a subtle streaking of chartreuse, blue-green, and yellow-white along the margin.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a clump 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter and 18 inches (45.7 cm) in height, making it suitable for mid-border positions in partial to full shade. Its blue-green foliage with pale margins pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials. The scape reaches 22 inches (55.9 cm) in height, though flower characteristics are not recorded in the registry.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season; apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring. As with most hostas, monitor for slug and deer damage, particularly on the tender new foliage.
