Overview
Registered in 2011, *Hosta* 'Cosmic Watercolors' is a medium-sized cultivar derived from a cross between *H.* 'Tom's Dream' (pod parent) and *H.* 'Blue Belly' (pollen parent). It is visually distinctive for its broadly ovate, moderately wavy leaves that display green centers with streaked margins of greenish yellow, greenish white, and creamy white, combined with a slightly shiny upper and lower surface.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a mound-like clump reaching approximately 15 inches (38.1 cm) in height and 24.5 inches (62.2 cm) in diameter, with upright leaf orientation. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and is suitable for shaded borders, woodland gardens, or as a specimen in mixed perennial beds. Its medium size and slow growth rate make it appropriate for smaller garden spaces or container culture.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it may be susceptible to slug and deer damage, so appropriate protective measures should be considered in areas where these pests are prevalent.
