Overview

Registered in 2013, *Hosta* 'Cosmic Miss Fertile' is a large, mound-forming cultivar resulting from a cross between (*H.* 'Fudge Ripple' × *H.* 'Chocolate Ripple') and *H.* 'Ma Breeder'. The cultivar is visually distinctive for its broad, blue-green leaves with intensely blue-green centers and creamy white, slightly rippled margins, often displaying streaked patterns of greenish yellow and greenish white.

In the Garden

Reaching 40 inches (101.6 cm) in diameter and 21 inches (53.3 cm) in height, this moderate-growing hosta forms a dense, rounded mound. It is best suited to partial to full shade, where the blue-green leaf coloration is most pronounced. The large, broadly ovate leaves with cordate bases and light corrugation provide textural contrast alongside ferns, heucheras, and other shade perennials. Its size makes it appropriate for mid-border or specimen placement in woodland gardens.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor regularly and take protective measures if necessary. This cultivar performs reliably in typical hosta-growing zones.
