Overview
Registered in 2013 as an open-pollinated seedling, *Hosta* 'Cornerstone' is a giant cultivar distinguished by its exceptionally large, upright mound of heavily textured blue-green leaves. The foliage is notable for its extreme folding at the leaf base, pointed twisted tips, and a glaucous bloom that persists on both surfaces, with color retention extending into late summer.
In the Garden
With a mature spread of 74 inches (188 cm) and height of 40 inches (102 cm), 'Cornerstone' functions as a substantial specimen plant in the landscape. Its upright, fast-growing habit suits it for placement at the back of shaded borders or as a focal point in large woodland gardens. The substantial leaves pair well with ferns, *Heuchera*, and other shade-tolerant perennials; the cultivar is not suited for container cultivation due to its size.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during establishment and throughout the growing season, applying a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring. Typical hosta-growing zones apply; the thick, corrugated leaves show moderate slug resistance, though monitoring is advised in damp conditions.
