Overview
Registered in 2009 by D. Beilstein and M. Zilis, this medium-sized hosta cultivar is a hybrid of *Hosta* 'Glory' (pod parent) and *Hosta* 'King Tut' (pollen parent). It is visually distinctive for its blue-green leaf centers with golden yellow margins, heavily corrugated and moderately cupped foliage, and a pronounced glaucous bloom on the leaf undersides.
In the Garden
*Hosta* 'Corn Muffins' forms a dense, mound-like clump reaching 18 inches (45.7 cm) in height and 31 inches (78.7 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the blue-green leaf centers and gold margins remain most distinct; excessive sun may cause marginal bleaching. The broadly ovate, cordate-based leaves, each 7.5 inches (19.1 cm) long and 6 inches (15.2 cm) wide with 12 vein pairs, feature slightly rippled golden yellow margins and heavy corrugation, giving the plant substantial textural presence in the border. It pairs well with other shade-tolerant perennials such as ferns, astilbes, or heucheras.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
