Overview
Registered in 2001 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Sunshine Glory', 'Connie Sun' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with bright yellow, slightly rippled margins. The broadly ovate, moderately corrugated leaves measure 9 inches (22.9 cm) long by 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) wide, with 13 vein pairs and a glaucous bloom on both surfaces. The upright chartreuse scapes reach 29 to 30 inches (73.7 to 76.2 cm) in height.
In the Garden
'Connie Sun' forms a dense, upright clump 16 inches (40.6 cm) tall and 25 inches (63.5 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, where the gold margins remain brightest; too much sun may scorch the leaves, while deep shade reduces margin color intensity. The blue-green center and bright yellow edge provide strong contrast when paired with ferns, *Heuchera*, or other shade-tolerant perennials with dark foliage.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage; monitor regularly and use control measures as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
