Overview
A sport of *Hosta* 'Fragrant Bouquet' registered in 2003, 'Color Parade' is a large, mound-forming cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with white margins that exhibit variable streaking and mottling in green, creamy yellow, and white. The combination of variegated foliage and fragrant flowers is an uncommon trait among hostas.
In the Garden
'Color Parade' forms a mound approximately 33 inches (84 cm) in diameter and 17 inches (43 cm) tall, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for blue-green hostas, and produces scapes 24 to 40 inches (61 to 102 cm) tall bearing fragrant flowers. Its substantial size and bold leaf pattern make it suitable as a specimen or accent in shaded borders, and it pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as both pests may damage the foliage.
