Overview

Registered in 2009, *Hosta* 'Citratini' is a small, mound-forming cultivar resulting from a cross between *H.* 'Shining Tot' (pod parent) and *H.* 'Gold Regal' (pollen parent). It is visually distinctive for its compact mound of blue-green leaves edged with pale yellow margins, combined with a fast growth rate and a slightly shiny upper leaf surface.

In the Garden

'H Citratini' reaches approximately 6 inches (15.2 cm) in height and 12 inches (30.5 cm) in diameter, forming a dense, mound-like clump. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its small size makes it well suited for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. Companion plants include small ferns, heucheras, or other miniature hostas that do not overtop its low profile.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Citratini' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so monitoring and protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
