Overview

Registered in 2002 as a sport of an unnamed parent, *Hosta* 'Chesieres September Frost' forms a large, mound-like clump distinguished by blue-green leaves with grey streaks and narrow, flat white margins. The foliage is elliptic with cordate bases, dull on the upper surface and bearing a faint glaucous bloom beneath.

In the Garden

This cultivar reaches approximately 31.5 inches (80 cm) in diameter and 19.5 inches (49.5 cm) in height, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, and its substantial mound makes it suitable as a specimen or in mixed shade borders. The white margins and grey streaks provide subtle contrast that complements darker foliage plants.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many large-leaved hostas, it is susceptible to slug damage and may require protection in damp conditions; deer browsing is also a potential concern in typical hosta-growing zones.
