Overview
Registered in 2002 as a sport of an unnamed parent, *Hosta* 'Chesieres Green Christmas' forms a medium-sized mound of blue-green leaves with creamy white margins. The foliage is nearly round, moderately corrugated, and bears a glaucous bloom on the undersides, with grey-green streaks occasionally appearing within the leaf center.
In the Garden
This cultivar reaches approximately 17.5 inches (44.5 cm) in height and spreads to 27.5 inches (69.9 cm) in diameter, with a fast growth rate that fills in quickly. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for hostas, and its compact mound suits the front of borders, woodland gardens, or shaded containers. The white-margined leaves provide contrast when paired with ferns, heucheras, or other shade perennials.
Care Notes
Regular watering during dry spells supports vigorous growth, and a balanced fertilizer applied in early spring as new shoots emerge encourages leaf development. Like many hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
