Overview
Registered in 1994, *Hosta* 'Centerfold' is a large cultivar of unknown parentage distinguished by its green leaves with broad, slightly rippled gold margins. The foliage is cordate at the base, measuring 10 inches long by 9 inches wide, with 13 pairs of veins and a slightly shiny surface on both sides.
In the Garden
'Centerfold' forms a substantial mound 24 inches tall and 46 inches in diameter, making it suitable for mid-border or specimen placement in partial to full shade. The green-and-gold variegation pairs well with dark-leaved heucheras or ferns, and its large leaves provide textural contrast alongside finer-textured perennials like *Tiarella* or *Pulmonaria*. The green scapes, 17 to 18 inches tall, bear typical hosta flowers in summer.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most large-leaved hostas, 'Centerfold' is susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
