Overview
Registered in 2001 as a sport of *Hosta* 'My Secret', 'Celery Satin' is a small hosta distinguished by its chartreuse leaves with gold margins and gold veins. New leaves emerge gold, and the foliage is characterized by a slightly shiny upper surface and a very shiny underside, with greenish yellow, slightly rippled margins.
In the Garden
'Celery Satin' reaches a mature diameter of 15 inches (38.1 cm) and a height of 8 inches (20.3 cm), forming a mound-like habit with a moderate growth rate. It is suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container culture, and performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for hostas. Its small size and bright foliage make it an effective accent plant when paired with darker-leaved perennials such as ferns or heucheras.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Celery Satin' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
