Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'Hoosier Harmony' registered in 2013, 'Catch of the Day' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its pale yellow leaf centers bordered by dark green, flat margins of approximately 0.75 inches (1.9 cm) width. The broadly ovate leaves are notably shiny on both surfaces, with 8 vein pairs, and the plant exhibits a faster growth rate and wider green margins than its parent.

In the Garden

'Catch of the Day' reaches a mature spread of 36 inches (91.4 cm) and height of 20 inches (50.8 cm), with a semi-upright habit. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its bright leaf centers provide contrast against darker-leaved companions such as *Heuchera* 'Palace Purple' or ferns. The yellow-green scapes, rising 30 to 32 inches (76.2 to 81.3 cm), bear pale lavender flowers in midsummer.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
