Overview
Registered in 1988 by D. Stone and P. Ruh, 'Carrie Ann' is a miniature hosta cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its compact, low-growing habit and medium green leaves with narrow, light yellow to white margins measuring 0.3 to 0.6 cm wide.
In the Garden
'Carrie Ann' reaches a mature spread of approximately 21.6 cm (8.5 in) and a height of 7.6 cm (3 in), making it suitable for the front of shaded borders, rock gardens, or trough plantings. Its small size and restrained growth habit also make it an excellent candidate for container cultivation. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its variegated foliage remains crisp and well-defined.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Carrie Ann' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
