Overview
Registered in 2002 by Paul Ruh, *Hosta* 'Canadian Foreign Affairs' is a giant variegated cultivar of unknown parentage. It is distinguished by its very large, ovate leaves with light green, slightly rippled margins, a very shiny upper surface, and exceptionally tall bloom scapes reaching up to 84 inches (213 cm).
In the Garden
With a mature spread of 74 inches (188 cm) and height of 34 inches (86 cm), this fast-growing cultivar commands significant space in the shade garden. It performs best in partial to full shade and pairs well with other bold-textured shade perennials such as ferns, astilbes, and *Heuchera*. Its upright growth habit and substantial leaf size make it a suitable specimen plant for large borders or woodland settings.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as with most large-leaved hostas.
