Overview
Registered in 2011, this sport of *Hosta* 'Lakeside Old Smokey' is distinguished by its large, blue-green leaves with muted yellow streaks and heavily rippled gold margins. The glaucous bloom on both leaf surfaces and the ovate, moderately wavy leaf shape contribute to its textural presence in the garden.
In the Garden
'Hosta Campfire' forms a mound-like clump reaching 30 inches (76.2 cm) in diameter and 13 inches (33.0 cm) in height, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the blue-green leaf color and gold margins remain most pronounced. The substantial foliage pairs well with ferns, *Heuchera*, and other shade-tolerant perennials; its large size makes it unsuitable for container culture.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
